The Australian Jockeys' Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Louise Betts as the new National Jockeys’ Trust Fundraising, Event Promotion and Administration Manager.
Louise has a wealth of talent and experience in the marketing and promotions business area – a skill set well suited to deal with the challenge of raising additional funding while dealing with jockeys and their families who have suffered injury and loss in the racing industry.
Trust Chairman, Paul Innes, said the NJT had identified the need for additional support to this important area of Jockey welfare and was pleased that Ms Betts has agreed to take up the initially part-time role from the 17th of November.
“Louise is well acquainted with the racing industry being a Racehorse Breeder and Owner for many years; she has a solid marketing background and has specifically worked with a number of charities. She will be able to utilise her broad experience to both explore the channels to potential supporters and plan events for the benefit of the Trust,” Mr Innes said.
“She will provide the NJT with the necessary momentum to generate additional funds for this critical area. NJT grants to injured jockeys and their families are limited by the funds generated through a small sponsorship agreement with Jayco Australia, the annual National Jockeys’ Celebration Day and other events, plus the generous donations from the industry and the public.”
